The Airline Pilot Club (APC) and Ireland’s Atlantic Flight Training Academy (AFTA) have launched a partnership to provide would-be airline pilots with professional guidance and high-quality training.
APC has established an 8-step process to guide prospective students and their families through all the key issues associated with becoming an airline pilot and produce a Personal Development Plan.
A key element of the APC process is to connect its members with high quality Approved Training Organisations (ATO) such as AFTA.
APC founders, Captain Andy O’Shea, former Head of Training at Ryanair, and Captain Petter Hornfeldt (YouTube Mentour Pilot) along with AFTA CEO and Head of Training Captain Mark J Casey are well-placed in the airline industry to introduce students to airlines throughout Europe.
APC founder and CEO, Captain Andy O’Shea, said, “We are very pleased to be announcing the launch of our partnership with AFTA. I am very aware of the quality that Captain Mark Casey and his team provide AFTA students. AFTA provide outstanding ab-initio commercial pilot training as well as one of the best APS MCCs on the market.”
Captain Mark J Casey AFTA’s Head of Training and CEO said, “Andy and Petter have been working tirelessly on this project and I am delighted to be aligned with this excellent initiative. APC will give aspiring pilots a greater insight into not just the multiple benefits of pursuing a career as an airline pilot but additionally the indicative assessment process that may identify suitability at an early stage and determine that the individual may make a more informed decision as to whether to pursue this career.”
Pilot Peer Support
In a separate move, the Airline Pilot Club has also teamed up with Margie Burns and Pilot Peer Support (PPS) to provide qualified airline pilots with support and advice during and after the current Covid-19 crisis.
Captain Andy O’Shea said, “Covid-19 has sent a shockwave through the aviation industry, with many aviation people and their families devastated at being made redundant or furloughed.
“To assist them, APC has launched our partnership with PPS. I am very aware of the quality that Margie Burns and her team provide PPS clients.
“PPS provides an outstanding and independent platform for pilots and all aviation personnel to seek advice about managing their well-being. People can also avail of one-to-one counselling services or career coaching that is 100% secure and confidential with a professional who is knowledgeable and experienced in both HR & Counselling & Psychotherapy.”
