Argentina has decided to scrap existing age limits for professional pilots, allowing them to continue flying for longer.
The National Civil Aviation Administration of Argentina (ANAC) has removed two restrictions for single and multi-pilot operations, meaning that as long as a pilot can maintain their medical, they can continue to fly commercially.
The single-pilot age limit was 60, and multi-crew pilots were required to retire at the age of 65. ANAC cited the industry’s ‘growing demand’, medical advancements, and pressure from smaller airlines and carriers in the country.
Currently in the United Kingdom and EASA states, pilots are required to retire from commercial operations at the age of 65.
Throughout 2024 Argentina has seen industrial action from Aerolineas Argentinas pilots, demanding salary increases.
