Female? Want to become an airline pilot? A substantial chunk of the cost of the training for an Air Transport Pilots Licence (ATPL), required to become an airline pilot, is available as a scholarship.
The British Women Pilots Association (BWPA) and Airways Aviation have launched the scholarship which is worth £35,000 towards the cost of a full-time EASA ATPL training course.
Romy Howatt, founder of Airways Aviation said, “Only 3% of the world’s pilots are women and the odds of having two female pilots flying in the cockpit at the same time are 300 to 1. We want to use this female-only scholarship as a starting point to lower those odds and help more women and girls see the world of possibility behind the cabin doors.”
