In LinkedIn posts spotted by Pilot Career News, British Airways staff confirmed the return of the Speedbird Pilot Academy (SPA) in 2025.
Following two intakes since the Academy was first announced at Pilot Careers Live North 2023, the Academy has grown in strength, fuelled by a desire from British Airways for a strong base of future pilots.
Also confirmed are webinars scheduled for January 2025. In a LinkedIn post, SPA Project Lead and Boeing 787 pilot Guy Bowen said, “With initial training now costing tens of thousands of pounds, the price of becoming a pilot has made the profession unreachable for many. This cost will now be funded by British Airways for up to 200 future pilots to fulfil their training at either Skyborne or FTEJerez.”
