Lithuanian-based ATO, BAA Training, has been approved by the Civil Aviation Authority of Mongolia (CAAM) to give ATR 72-500 type rating training for pilots who hold MCAA pilot licenses.
“The Asia-Pacific region has been opening its aviation sector to the outside world step-by-step. Mongolian aviation industry has started its rapid growth since 2005 and has recently entered a new type of aircraft – ATR 72-500 into its fleet. Experience and help in this process is significant from the very beginning. BAA Training is glad to be a partner of the expanding aviation sector in Mongolia,” said Martynas Mažeika, Product Development Department Director at BAA Training.
Training will take place in EASA-certificated simulator which is located in Baku, Azerbaijan. BAA Training has already completed first course on ATR type for Mongolian pilots.
The ATR 72-500 is certified to operate on unpaved runways by installing a kit to ensure landing gear and lower fuselage protection. Twin-engine turboprop short-haul regional airliner with great automation of power management facilitates the pilot’s workload. Mongolia is considered to be an emerging economy with a huge territory dominated by domestic flights, where this type of aircraft quickly becomes established.
