Bristol Groundschool has announced the third round of its 2013 ATPL scholarship programme. The trainer has already successfully awarded a total of 14 ATPL theory scholarships, each worth £2,140, to deserving candidates in 2013. There are seven remaining theory scholarships available for the third round, which closes on 25 November 2013.
The judging panel for this scholarship includes Carol Vorderman, pilot and TV personality, Dr Eleanor Ivory, airline pilot and CAA Aviation Medical Examiner; Captain Martin Mahoney, Senior VP Flight Training for Emirates Airline; Lee Mears, former England rugby player now retraining as a pilot; Dorothy Pooley, Immediate Past Chairman and Founder of the Professional Flying Instructors Association and Master Elect of GAPAN; Ian Seager, Publisher of FLYER magazine; and Graham Stokes, Head of Flight Operations Training & Standards for Virgin Atlantic Airways.
Scholarship judge Lee Mears was with Bristol Groundschool at the Professional Flight Training Exhibition on 26 October. He explained, “It’s great to see an opportunity like this one from Bristol Groundschool that encourages people from so many different backgrounds. For people applying, we as judges want to see a passion for flight – and tell us your story. I love reading the stories about how people first got involved in aviation and what keeps them motivated.”
