The UK CAA has released new guidance for prospective commercial pilots. The advice, including information on protecting financial payments, is aimed at anyone thinking of enrolling on a commercial pilot training course.
The guide, available on the CAA website here, provides useful links to approved training organisations and further sources of advice, such as the information on becoming a pilot published by the Guild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators (GAPAN) found here.
Ray Elgy, Head of Licensing and Training Standards at the CAA, said, “This guide is intended as a first stop for anyone contemplating a career as a commercial pilot. It is a basic introduction to the options available, highlighting some of the potential financial risks involved. A career as an airline pilot is unquestionably an appealing prospect to many people, however, it is important that anyone embarking down that path understands the commitments, particularly financial commitments involved.”
CAA staff will be distributing copies of the guide to attendees of the Professional Flight Training Exhibition being held at the Sofitel Hotel, Terminal 5, London Heathrow on the 3 November 2012. exhibitions.flyer.co.uk
