Glasgow Airport-based Cloud Global Group has acquired Border Air Training, which has been operating flying schools at Carlisle Airport in Cumbria and Cumbernauld Airport in central Scotland for 26 years.
The deal also includes the acquisition of airline Fly Scenic Scotland which operates sightseeing flights and provide aircraft charter services throughout the United Kingdom. The airline has announced several new routes from Oban and Carlisle Airports. The airline also provides aircraft for specialised activities such as agriculture, construction, photography, surveying, observation, patrol and aerial advertisement.
The purchase of Border Air Training and Fly Scenic Scotland will create an operation with a combined turnover of £4m and a workforce of 30 employees.
Cloud Global Group director Graeme Frater, said: “We had been looking for an opportunity to expand the company and we felt Border Air Training and Fly Scenic Scotland provided an excellent fit with our business model.”
The new developments at Cloud Global come on the back of the purchase of Perth based ACS Aviation Ltd in November 2016.
The Cloud Global Group now has bases at Glasgow, Cumbernauld, Perth, Oban and Carlisle Airports and plans to develop all areas of the business over the coming 12 months. It is currently recruiting flying instructors, administrators, commercial pilots and aircraft engineers to the team.
