Entrol has completed the development of a Flight Training Device (FTD) level 2 simulator for the highly popular single-engine Bell 505, the replacement for the long-standing JetRanger.
The first customer for the 505 FTD is Abu Dhabi based Horizon International Flight Academy, which has a large fleet of Bell 505 for training helicopter pilots in the Middle East.
Entrol’s statement says the Bell 505 FTD level 2 simulator will allow Horizon Academy to enhance their training by practising emergency situations that cannot be performed in the real helicopter.
The FTD is compliant with CS-FSTD(H) FTD level 2 requirements. Horizon will use it for type rating, IFR checks and initial courses (IR, ATPL).
Entrol says the simulator will also be offered as FNPT II for flight schools to optimize the costs of their training programs.
