FTEJerez and Spanish national carrier Iberia have launched the fourth round of their joint cadet programme, aimed at providing the airline with a new generation of pilots.
The Iberia Cadet programme aims to provide half-funded training to successful candidates, with training set to begin in late 2024. Previous intakes have resulted in 48 new pilots completing the programme.
Until 15 May, those interested in becoming pilots can submit their applications at www.ftejerez.com/iberia.php.
“We are very pleased to be launching the fourth edition of this successful programme, with which we not only promote the piloting profession among young people, but also help them finance their training in very advantageous conditions so that they can develop their vocation,” said Rafael Jiménez-Hoyos, Production Director of Iberia.
Óscar Sordo, CEO of FTEJerez, said, “It is an honour for us that Iberia continues to trust FTEJerez to train its next generation of pilots. This new call for candidates not only recognises the success of the Iberia Cadets programme, launched for the first time in 2017, but also reflects the constant growth of the sector and the promising future of the industry.”
The Iberia Cadets programme follows the syllabus and structure of FTE’s integrated ATPL course, the Airline First Officer Programme (AFOP), which has a total price of €118.600.
If successful, candidates will only be required to fund 50% of the programme. The remaining 50% will be financed by Iberia and deducted from net wages once the A320 type rating course is completed and new pilots become an employee of the Iberia Group.
Candidates will also have to fund an Airbus A320 Type Rating provided by an Iberia TR supplier.

- Full-board accommodation (3 meals a day), VAT included
- 1st attempt, ground and flying EASA exams
