L3 Commercial Aviation has a new contract with KLM to provide a B787-9 Full Flight Simulator (FFS) for the airline’s training centre at Schiphol Airport in the Netherlands.
“This latest contract builds on our strong relationship with KLM,” said Robin Glover-Faure, President of Commercial Training Solutions, which is part of L3 Commercial Aviation.
“We are delighted that the airline is further entrusting us to provide this state-of-the-art simulator and support the development and training requirements of their modern fleet.”
The simulator, an L3 RealitySeven model, is scheduled for delivery in mid-2020. The device will enable additional training capability and increased capacity, supporting the Air France-KLM group’s growing requirement for 787 training.
The contract also includes a package of updates to one B787 and one A330 FFS device previously delivered by L3 to KLM. The B787 update will align the device with the latest configuration of the newly ordered Boeing FFS, while the A330 update will introduce new aircraft systems and features as installed on the KLM Airbus fleet.
The updates will enable KLM to deliver Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT) on the A330 simulator in compliance with the latest EASA regulations.
