L3Harris Technologies has launched a new pilot training tool called Competency Assessment Recording Application (CARA).
CARA will supports trainers and instructors by collecting data based on observed behaviours, core pilot competencies and other data points during training – all part of what’s known as ‘Big Data’.
The software also helps deliver and assess more tailored training for specific airline operational requirements.
The iPad application will be an essential pilot training tool in assessing cognitive and competency skills. It is designed to support evidence-based training, where the data-driven feedback is aligned with simulator data to enable trainers to provide more observational assessment and feedback.
“CARA will provide significant benefits to pilot training programmes,” said Alan Crawford, President, Commercial Aviation, L3Harris.
“Utilising data to provide detailed insights will enable customers to embrace evidence-based training and offer the highest quality training available.
“CARA is an important part of the innovative data-analytical ecosystem we are developing to support our industry leading training.”
