So you’re interested in the idea of becoming a pilot for a career but how exactly do you do that?

The Pilot Careers Live events are the ideal place to find out because not only are there leading companies from the flight training industry exhibiting, but there are a series of seminars during the day-long event designed to answer your questions – even the ones you didn’t know to ask.

The seminars for the next two events have now been confirmed. Here are the programmes:

Making the right choices
Ian Seager, Seager Publishing and Thomas Borchert, Aero International and Fliegermagazin: Making the right choices, what to consider before you start pilot training. What are the spoken English standards required to be a pilot.

What’s it really like being a pilot
Vereinigung Cockpit presents a view on the pros and cons of the pilot profession, as well as important advice before you begin your pilot career.

Are you fit to fly? 
Aviation medical doctor, Dr Gabel, will explain what the medical requirements are for pilots entering the career.

Should I get an aviation degree?
We are joined by the European Institute of Aviation and Business, who will talk about the positive prospects for aviation careers in Germany and how getting a university degree could be a benefit.

What to expect during pilot training
Current pilot cadets share their training journeys and experiences.

Aviation Selection Consultants
Margie Burns, founding Director of Aviation Selection Consultants who has 25 years experience in pilot selection for international airlines, military and flight academies, will be offering essential advice on preparing for a pilot career.

Should I get an aviation degree?
We are joined by assistant professor in aviation management at Dublin City University, Cathal Guiomard, who will talk about the positive prospects for aviation careers in Ireland and how getting a university degree could be a benefit.

A career as a helicopter pilot
We welcome Captain Sarah Bowen, who joins us to talk about the route to becoming a professional helicopter pilot. Find out what makes being a helicopter pilot such an exciting and rewarding choice of career. What are the costs involved in getting you there, and the range of scholarships, bursaries and funding options available to trainee pilots. Advice on job prospects, including the kind of qualities employers look for in new applicants, and how you can now fully integrate helicopter pilot training with a degree course.

Air Traffic Control
We are joined by Irish Aviation Authority, who will present on a career in Air Traffic Control, explaining more about this challenging and rewarding aviation career.

Irish Air Corps
The Irish Air Corps will discuss their roles and the career opportunities that they can offer.

Aer Lingus
Pilots from Aer Lingus will be joining us to present on a flying career with the Irish flagship carrier. They will discuss recruitment methods, selection criteria, routes to Flight deck careers and Pilot development at Aer Lingus.
