Skyborne Airline Academy is celebrating the graduation of 69 trainees from its UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Integrated and Modular Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) programmes, with many of the newly-qualified pilots already securing positions at leading airlines.
Among the carriers that the graduates will join are Ryanair, TUI, Jet2, and Loganair, with a significant 22 trainees joining easyJet. The latter prompted easyJet’s Chief Operating Officer, Captain David Morgan, to attend the graduation ceremony in Gloucestershire during October 2023.
Lee Woodward, Chief Executive Officer of Skyborne, expressed his pride in the graduates: “Our industry should celebrate the talent of these young people who have met the demands of the Skyborne ATPL programme and demonstrated their determination and character.”
Captain David Morgan of easyJet also offered his congratulations, adding that the airline currently has 17 Skyborne graduates flying for them, with a further 10 set to join in the coming months. “I continue to be impressed by their skills and readiness to enter the industry and we look forward to welcoming them to easyJet to embark on this truly rewarding career,” he said.
The graduation ceremony was also an opportunity to recognise outstanding trainees from Skyborne’s programmes. William Smith received the prize for Best Ground School Results with an average score of 96.7%, while Thomas Perks and Bradley Gibbs were jointly awarded the Integrated Trainee of the Year. Skyborne’s CFO, Paul Cooper, was honoured with the Kleynhans Award for Lifetime Achievement.
Two trainees were awarded the Skyborne Spirit Award. Integrated ATPL trainee Norbi Chrapowicki was commended for his resilience and positive attitude, while Modular trainee Katherine Miller (pictured above) was praised for her positive, can-do approach to training. Miller expressed her gratitude for the award, stating that Skyborne’s world-class facilities and established airline relationships provided her with “the best possible start to my pilot career.”
